Job Summary:

We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and detail-oriented Cashier to join our team at a busy sushi restaurant. This role involves not only handling customer transactions with a high level of accuracy and professionalism but also assisting with basic food preparation tasks to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Service & Cash Handling:

• Greet customers warmly and take orders accurately, in person or over the phone.

• Operate the cash register/POS system to process transactions efficiently.

• Handle cash, credit/debit payments, and issue receipts or change as needed.

• Answer customer questions about the menu, ingredients, and specials.

• Maintain a clean and organized front counter area.

• Ensure customer satisfaction and resolve minor complaints or direct issues to management.

Food Preparation Support:

• Assist sushi chefs with basic prep work (e.g., cutting vegetables, portioning rice, restocking ingredients).

• Assemble simple items like sushi rolls, salads, or bento boxes under chef supervision.

• Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines at all times.

• Keep prep areas clean and organized.

Other Duties:

• Assist with restocking supplies and inventory as needed.

• Maintain cleanliness of dining and kitchen areas.

• Follow opening and closing procedures.

Qualifications:

• Previous cashier or food service experience preferred (especially in a sushi or fast-casual restaurant).

• Basic knowledge of Japanese cuisine or willingness to learn.

• Strong communication and multitasking skills.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Must be punctual, reliable, and team-oriented
